Chic. If there is one word that best describes Salvatore Ferragamo’s latest offering for Spring-Summer 2021, it has got to be chic.
Set in the historical open-space Rotonda di Via Besana, a late baroque complex of dramatic colonnade portico, fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo launched their newest collection for next season. While properly observing social distancing, the a-lister attendees all sat on director’s chairs as if they are witnessing a film in the making. True enough, a masterfully created Hitchcock-tinged evolution of suspense teaser by Luca Guadagnino set the mood for the whole runway show.

For Spring-Summer 2021, designer Paul Andrew drew inspiration from the Technicolor world of Hitchcock classics like Marnie, The Birds and Vertigo. This serves as the core concept of his vision thus the interesting explosion of colors such as Hedren Green, Vertigo Mauve, Technicolor Yellow, Lobster Mousse, and Bodega Bay Sky. They play against Gull Grey, Sparrow and Hitchcock Tan.
Standout pieces include hand applied embroidered feathers and a handspun ‘floating’ string skirt in neon coral. Mesh grey nappa leather make an appearance in a matching jacket and skirt ensemble. Side slits on pants and flowy dresses make silhouettes more feminine and playful.
Leather accessories are bigger than the usual handbag purse, all adorned with the iconic Gancini embossing and buckle. Footwear features mules and sling backs with sculptural heels, streamlined strappy sandals and square-toe ankle boots.
