Lustrous Nature: Maison et Objet 2020 Trend Report

The natural world seemed to have played a major role in the collections of a wide range of brands and designers alike for this year’s Maison Et Objet exhibit. Everything from simple, organic lines, to literal translations of nature, were pronounced alongside a striking and luxurious twist.

Nature has undoubtedly and consistently been a source of inspiration to designers due to the #naturalbeauty it holds. However, we also see that having a little luster never hurts. Defined by natural forms, accentuated by lustrous surfaces that give the impression of gold-dipped pieces, #LustrousNature is a response to wondering if we can freeze the beauty nature possesses, making it “eternal” or a type of beauty that never fades.

Being a fusion between the organic and the man-manipulated, this trend leaves a strong impression of class, luxury, and character in ways not recognized before. This reinterpretation of bringing the outdoors inside may just be the most luxurious one of its kind.

What do you think about this trend? Could it be the manifestation of “nature at its finest”, but in a different light?
